This weekend Tyler Perry finally opened his studio, Tyler Perry Studios, with a gala in Atlanta. The 800 person guest list was impressive with names like Beyonce and JayZ, Cicely Tyson, Oprah Winfrey, Ava Duvernay and more. Perry went from homeless to owning a studio bigger than Disney and Warner Brothers. Not only is he the first Black studio owner her built it on the sight of a former Confederate Army base.
Will Smith and Diahnn Caroll were honored with a sound stage named in their honor.
