To initiate the application for restoration of your civil rights and keep your application moving, you will need to:
- Submit theRestoration of Civil Rights applicationto the Office of Executive Clemency in Tallahassee.Click here for detailed instructions from the Office of Executive Clemency on how to fill out the form.You may also obtain a copy of the application by calling the Office of Executive Clemency at (850) 488-2952, or writing to the ACLU of Florida at the address on the bottom of this page.AND
- Submit letters of reference or character affidavits from past or current employers, clergy, neighbors, etc. Such letters are OPTIONAL, but they may be very helpful to your application. Keep in mind that the Parole Commission may contact the people who write on your behalf. The letters can be sent to the Office of Executive Clemency, at the same address as listed on the Restoration of Civil Rights Application.AND
- Keep copies at home of your completed application, letters, and any other documentation you submit. You should have your own complete record of all correspondence and submissions.AND
- Call the Office of Executive Clemency to make sure all information has been received and to ask whether they need any additional information. The phone number for the Office of Executive Clemency is (850) 488-2952. You should also call periodically to find out where your application is in the review process.
