2000- Eminem drops The Marshall Mathers LP! The project spent 8 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and included Stan and Slim Shady.

1992-The Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas calls for a boycott of Time Warner, whose label Sire is distributing the song "Cop Killer" by Body Count, which is Ice-T's group. Six weeks later the song would be pulled from the album but not before selling 500,00 copies.

1991- James Brown makes his first public appearance since his arrest for the Pay-Per-View event James Brown Living in American. MC Hammer, En Vouge and more also performed.

1991- David Ruffin's funeral was just as dramatic as his life. Temptations band member Eddie Kendrick is arrested at the funeral for failure to pay child support.

1990- The 2 Live Crew is arrested and sited for obscenity after performing songs from the illegal As Nasty as They Wanna Be lp. Eventually the album would become legal again but a cleaner version would also be made available.

1989- De La Soul drops his debut album 3 Feet High and Rising peeking at #24 on the charts meanwhile Me, Myself, and I is #1 on the R&B/Hip Hop Charts
