What Does Success Really Look Like?

I believe in the power of books! If you know me you know I quote The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho daily because that book changed my philosophy about my journey to my dreams. Well, my best friend recommended a book by Valorie Burton called Listen to you Life and within the first 7 pages I whipped out my journal and got to writing!

I hate the idea of writing down my goals, I'm not sure why. I guess it's cliche factor when I hear, I wrote my goals and that's when my dreams started coming true, that annoys me. In my head I'm poppin and I haven't written a damn thing down...or am I?

If you'd walked up to me on the street before today and asked me how I defined success I'd probably sound like a rap song. You know the concept; money, cars, designer clothes, houses, power blah blah blah.

Do you want to know why? Because I hadn't defined success for myself, I'd defined it by what I thought it should look like.

So now the light bulb is on and I'm completely here with writing down goals. Think about your GPS you have a start point and a destination, without the two you can't get directions for your journey. Knowing when I'm at and where I want to go will help me clearly plan what I need to do to get there. If I need a degree for this or better recourses for that, you get the picture.

Now it's your turn, what is your successful life?

  • Your work
  • Your relationships (romantic, friends, family)
  • Your finances and resources
  • Your spiritual relationships
  • Your health (physical, emotional, and mental)
