Trapped in the ATM

On a regular day you stop by the ATM, nothing out of the ordinary until.....

Sounds like the opening to that a wired movie centered around a phone booth and a crazy person who has a really good shot right? Well, what you're about to read is an actual factual story from Corpus Christi.

Police in Texas responded to the most unusual rescue call they've ever received on Wednesday when someone phoned 911 to report a man trapped inside an ATM.

A customer pulled up to the cash machine outside a Bank of America branch in Corpus Christi and was shocked when a note was slipped through the receipt slot. It read, "Please help. I'm stuck in here, and I don't have my phone. Please call my boss." The customer didn't know if it was serious or a joke, but called the police just in case.

When officers arrived, they were stunned to hear a faint voice coming from inside the machine. Apparently, a repair man was inside the small room housing the ATM to fix a lock on the door and accidentally locked himself inside. Since he didn't have his cell phone on him, his only hope was to reach out to a customer for help.

Police were eventually able to kick the door open and free the man, who said he'd been stuck inside for about two hours. (Corpus Christi Caller Times)
