MTV Celebrates Video Vanguard Recipient Missy Elliott With NYC Museum

In honor of her upcoming Michael Jackson Video Vanguard honor at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, Missy Elliott's iconic videography was put on display by the network with the Museum of Missy located in Soho, New York.

On Friday (August 23), MTV invited iHeartRadio to take an early glimpse at the exhibit, which lets attendees walk into some Instagram-able photo opps for her most famed clips like "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," "Sock It 2 Me." "Work It" and more. With a mix of old school and new school tunes, particularly heavy on M-I-S-S-Y, playing on the speaker system, the Museum of Missy presented by Pepsi was intended for both longtime supporters and even non-fans. At each installation, attendees were met the names of the prominent creatives who worked on the shoot, including her most recent video for "Throw It Back," to help them understand the effort behind the project. Frequent Elliott collaborations like stylist June Ambrose and dancer Allyson Stoner also appeared at the event, giving die-hard fans the opportunity to meet some of the folks that have helped the rapper cement her status in pop culture.

Tickets to the event reportedly sold out within 60 seconds, but Elliott has encouraged her Instagram following to "try to roll up" in hopes that they can catch a glimpse at her iconic videography. The Museum of Missy is located at 632 Broadway and open to ticket holders until Sunday at 6PM.

Expect more from Elliott when she receives the Micheal Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, which will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Monday at 8 PM ET.
