Titans' Stephen Gostkowski Named AFC Special Teams Player Of The Month

Tennessee Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski was named AFC special teams player of the month for September on Thursday, Pro Football Talk reports.

Gostkowski has successfully kicked game-winning field goals in each of the Titans' first three wins, making him the first kicker since the 1970 merger to make game-winning field goals during the final two minutes of each of his team's first three games, while also leading Tennessee to a 3-0 record to start the 2020 NFL season, Pro Football Talk reports.

The 15-year veteran has also made nine consecutive field goals, beginning with his game-winner in the Titans' 16-14 victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 1.

That streak followed a horrendous start to the 2020 campaign, which saw Gostkowski miss his first three field goal attempts and an extra point. However, the former Super Bowl champion bounced back by making a 25-yard attempt with 0:17 remaining during the victory at Denver.

Gostkowski also made game-winning field goals against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. The veteran kicker has been named NFL special teams player of the month five times during his career, with his first four coming during his 14 seasons with the New England Patriots.
