B.G.'s legal team says the seasoned rapper should remain on supervised release after his probation officer had him arrested.
According to a report The Guardian published on Friday, April 5, B.G.'s probation officer had him arrested recently following his recent performance with Boosie Badazz. Both rappers reunited for the first time in years back in February during a show in Las Vegas, which is where he lives now. They also performed together that night. Last month, B.G.'s probation officer claimed the Hot Boys rapper didn't seek approval to do the set among other things, which is required as part of his supervised release.
In a court filing, B.G.’s attorneys Billy Gibbens and David Chesnoff insisted their client did have permission to perform. The probation officer listed several other instances in which B.G. failed to seek approval including his recent project with Gucci Mane Choppers & Bricks, which dropped back in December after he was transferred to a halfway house. Gibbens & Chesnoff said B.G. did get permission to work with Gucci from authorities at the halfway house especially since he recorded his contributions in Las Vegas while the 1017 founder was in Georgia.
The officer initially rejected the notion that B.G. could work with both Gucci and Boosie since they both have prior felony convictions, and also alleged he released videos on YouTube without permission. However, his attorneys argued he obtained permission to work with both “successful music artists” from the team at the halfway house before he moved out and was placed on supervised release. Even prosecutors determined he “was granted authority … to perform in some of these instances” in court.
Following his arrest, B.G. was released from custody pending the outcome of the case. He's scheduled to appear in court in New Orleans Monday.
