Sexyy Red busted out all her ratchet hits for culture's biggest night.
The St. Louis rap star and her dance troupe "Da Sexettz" rocked all-red outfits during their grand debut at the BET Awards 2024 on Sunday night, June 30. She opened up with her latest collaboration with Drake "U My Everything" off her recent mixtape In Sexyy We Trust. After a quick outfit change, the performance quickly turned into a campaign rally as she performed her other major song "Get It Sexyy." She was surrounded by secret service agents who danced around her as she closed out with some twerktastic moves.
Sexyy Red's performance comes short after she delivered a memorable performance at the Roots Picnic. The 26-year-old rapper performed hits off her recent project In Sexyy We Trust like "Awesome Jawsome" and "Get It Sexyy" in front of a massive red hat that said, "Make America Sexyy Again." The stage prop, inspired by the presidential theme of her latest mixtape, has been used at several recent performances this year. Her apparent nod to Donald Trump's notorious slogan has been a topic of discussion among fans and critics, especially after she claimed she liked Trump in a past interview. However, now it seems like she's trying to distance herself from the presidential campaign trail altogether.
"Itβs Sexyy Red 4 President πΊπΈ Iβm my own candidate Iβm not endorsing anybody period π," she wrote earlier this month.
Big Sexyy plans to continue her campaign run during her "Sexyy Red 4 President Tour" this fall. Her tour will begin in Seattle on August 22 and will it hit up other major cities until it closes out in Nashville on October 1.
Sexyy Red performed at the awards show for the first time after she made her debut at last year's BET Hip Hop Awards. She shared the stage with other artists like Muni Long, GloRilla, Shaboozey, Lauryn Hill, YG Marley, Ice Spice, Tyla and more. Check out more moments from her performance at the BET Awards 2024 below.
