Sensory Friendly Holiday Fun

Children all over the county live with Sensory sensitivity, the term refers to how aware your children are with regard to each of their sensory channels: sight, sound, taste, smell, touch, and pain. All individuals have varying degrees of sensitivity and have varying ways of outwardly responding and expressing their awareness of these sensitivities.

A good deal of these children (and even adults) appear on the Autism Spectrum so fun holiday activities like visiting Santa is a little tough on families and the child. Goodwill Easterseals, Autism Society of Alabama and Santa Ernest want your family to comfortably take part in Holiday activities.

Santa Ernest is available to the entire family but he has special training for those who live with sensory sensitivity.

this event is not just for children who have autism, it is for any child who has special needs/ sensory difficulties and their families. We will have the very special Santa Ernest from Santa America at the event, who has been trained as a Sensory Friendly Santa. Santa America is an amazing organization that you may be also interested in spotlighting. They provide special Santa experiences at no charge to children with special needs, military families and hospital patients. Here is their link: http://www.santaamerica.org/
