June 25 until 6pm you can give blood and save up to 3 lives. LifeSouth will take blood and platelets donations at 555 Broadcast Drive in the WKRG studio. A regular blood donation can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes so if you're short on time this is probably your best bet. I chose platelet donation, which took a little over an hour.
- Platelets are tiny cells in your blood that form clots and stop bleeding. ...In a platelet donation, an apheresis machine collects your platelets along with some plasma, returning your red cells and most of the plasma back to you -American Red Cross Blood Services.
Giving blood is giving back in a big way that will only cost you a small window of time and blood of course. Blood is needed in hospitals about every 2 seconds. Since is cannot be manufactured the ability to save a human life rest in the hands of people in our community. Here's a little more information with a LifeSouth director.
If you can't donate today but are moved by the idea of donating visit LifeSouth's website to find the next donation site!
