Issa Rae did not invent the "Hoe Phase" but we will acknowledge her HBO show Insecure definitely brought the conversation out of the shadows. It's a complementary conversation that's been brewing with the rise of feminine power and expression. From Meg Thee Stallion, Cardi B, City Girls etc...our music is starting to reflect the private conversations we've been pretty ashamed to have publicly. No culture embraces sexual identity better than Black Culture.
I totally get we are in the Bible Belt so this maybe a conversation that's still shunned. Why do we embrace the " hoe phase". That answer can vary from woman to woman. Some of the answers may come off as an unhealthy coping mechanism but why can't variety in dating also be a thing. It could be the very thing you need to figure out your likes and dislikes through trial and error.
Let's be very clear you can have your "hoe phase" and still be choosy. You don't have to turn up with everybody because you still have a soul that needs to be protected. There are some energies that need to be avoided. You can deal with one person at a time and still call it your hoe phase because honestly you get to define this! Don't believe me?
