Essence' Magazine Sits Down with Cyntoia Brown

n 2006 the judge sentenced 16-year-old Cyntoia Brown to life with the possibility of parole after 51 years for the murder and robbery of a 43-year-old man, Johnny Michael Allen, on the evening of August 6, 2004. To say Brown had been neglected by the system that should've protected her is an understatement. After years of fighting the system and some celebrity recognition Cyntoia Brown has been granted clemancy and In 2006 the judge sentenced 16-year-old Cyntoia Brown to life with the possibility of parole after 51 years for the murder and robbery of a 43-year-old man, Johnny Michael Allen, on the evening of August 6, 2004.
