The Blackest Things on Netflix

Welcome to the time of year we decline invitations so we can stay in our warm homes! Netflix has up the ante for such a time as this. Here are my top picks

1.American Son

Kerry Washington plays the mother of a Biracial son caught up in a indecent with police. The movie was originally a stage play and transfers to the silver screen with the same vibe. While I found the movie hella triggering and lowkey railroaded the issue of police brutality it was still a decent watch. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

2.Love Jones

My absolute favorite movie and cult classic! Darius and Nina will never get old. A sprinkle of dysfunction but a ton of Black love with the Blackest story line. I'll watch this on repeat for a min!

3.My Name is Dolemite

Eddy Murphy is brilliant and raw! The movie was funny but if you're easily offended this may be worth skipping. This is the Eddie Murphy we know in the red leather suit not so much Norbit. Eddie plays a washed up comedian making a comeback. Murphy isn't alone, he has an all star cast of comedians known for their raw comedy ready to back him up.

4.Good Burger

"Welcome to Good Burger Home of the Good Burger can I take your order!" Do I need to break this movie down? If you grew up in the 90's you know whats good! Round up the babies and show them this joint because they deserve to know that we're all dudes...and Ed

5.Paid in Full

If you don't watch another Black movie in your life you better watch this! A hood cult classic with Wood Harris, Mekhi Phifer, and Cam'ron. The story line is basically Harlem, drugs, money, loyalty. Issa vibe though!
