If you're anything like my mother you read the headline and cringed. You probably said to yourself "why would she take a five year old boy to a shooting range to shoot"? Well I'm thinking about buyin a gun that's why.
I've never owned a gun let alone shot one and I was on the fence about doing either when I first entered SRT in Mobile. This is a Black Owned shooting range that happens to be family friendly. The husband and wife owners Dino and Bridgette are very knowledgeable in not just gun saftey but also self defense. Dino is a former police officer with lots of training, his wife Bridgette was our instructor. As parents they understood the need for a family friendly facility so there are TVs and arcade games.
Our lesson was on the simulator. My son got a gun that basically worked like an arcade game gun. He learned how to hold the gun, aim, and shoot balloon animals. It made the noise but not much else. My gun was filled with CO2 so I got the feeling of shooting an actual gun, we're talking sound and kickback. Check out the video below for more details. Here's the link to SRT's Facebook page.
