LOCAL EVENTS:

COCKTAILS WITH CRITTERS- Thurs 6pm-9pm, Bluegill Restaurant, Causeway, Spanish Fort

This is the 14th Annual fundraiser for the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation. The event will include a silent auction, live music by Eric Erdman, hors d'oevres and beer and wine! Tickets available online at sealabfoundation.org. CLICK HERE

THUNDER OVER THE SOUND- Sat/Sun 8:30am (gates open 7:30am), Keesler Air Force Base; 1pm-5pm, Biloxi beachfront

Thunder Over the Sound, featuring the US Air Force Thunderbirds, takes place on the flightline at Keesler Air Force Base and along the beaches of Biloxi, and is a joint effort between Keesler AFB and the city of Biloxi. The show includes other performances: Team Aeroshell, the Army Special Ops Black Daggers, a MiG-17 and many more. GULF COAST HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL - Thurs 6pm-8pm Balloon Glow (at Tanger Outlets); Fri 2pm-10pm; Sat 9am-10pm, Festival Grounds, Foley Soccer Complex

Featuring more than 40 hot air balloons from across the country; activities include tethered rides each night, Balloon Glows, entertainment, carnival attractions, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and the Disc Connected K-9 Frisbee Dog Show. ****Balloons fly early in the morning (around dawn) and late in the afternoon (around dusk). BLESSING OF THE FLEET- Sat/Sun 10am-4pm, St Margaret Parish, Bayou la Batre

Admission is free and the event will include Alabama Gulf seafood, traditional Vietnamese Cuisine, a Gumbo Cook-off (Saturday only), Arts & Crafts Show, Decorated Boat Contest, Boat Cruises, Bingo, activities for children, and more. Land Parade Sunday at 2pm, followed by Blessing and Boat Parade at 3pm. BIDS, BREWS & BEATS- Sat 11am-3pm, Flora-Bama Lounge, Perdido Key

There will be food, live music and a live auction, benefitting Alabama Credit Union’s Secret Meals for Hungry Children organization, serving 295 children in 8 schools across Mobile County, Baldwin County, and the Perdido Key area. Each Friday food packs are delivered to these schools and teachers secretly place the packs into students backpacks so they have enough food to eat over the weekend. CLICK HERE

BURGER BATTLE BY THE BAY- Sat 11am-2pm, Community Maritime Park, Pensacola

Attendees get to taste numerous samples of grilled burgers made by both professionals and amateurs, and you can vote for your favorite! Proceeds benefit Take Stock in Children, providing educational opportunities for underprivileged kids. CLICK HERE 

RACE TO THE TOP - Sat 9am, Turquoise Place, Orange Beach

Spectrum Resorts and the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics want you to test your fitness level with our local heroes and compete for a three-night stay at Turquoise Place and for the bragging rights to the “Top of the Tower Champion” title. This stair race up 31 floors to the top of Turquoise Place Tower, is open to the public and will benefit the Special Olympics of Alabama.  CLICK HERE

LOCAL GOODNESS- Sun 4pm-7pm, Strada Patient Care Center, 1601 Center St (near USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital), Mobile

At this unique farm-to-table event, Local Goodness pays tribute to local cuisine, art and music while raising awareness and support for the mission of providing the highest quality healthcare for the children and women in this region. This year’s event will support the expansion and renovation of USA Children’s & Women’s Pediatric Emergency Department, the only facility of its kind on the Gulf Coast. CLICK HERE

HOBBY HORSE DERBY- Sun 1pm-6pm, Cathedral Square, downtown Mobile

This event is a fun competition for the whole family. Hop on your hobby horse, dress in your best race day costume, and compete to be top "dog" in Mobile! Proceeds will benefit Delta Dogs, a non-profit, community-supported organization that helps provide free spay and neuter and veterinary healthcare to the pets of people living below the poverty line in the Mobile.  CLICK HERE
