Rihanna confirmed that she was offered the Big Bowl game halftime show. But, unlike Jennifer Lopez, in solidarity with quarterback Colin Kaepernick, she declined.
Three years ago, Kaepernick started a movement to protest police brutality. Kaep doesn’t have an NFL job today because he kneeled during the national anthem.
Performing at the Super Bowl would have felt like a betrayal of Kaepernick to the singer. RiRi told Vogue magazine (quote) “I couldn’t dare do that. Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout."
In other words, Rihanna considers Jennifer Lopez a "sellout."
50 Cent has shared the first image from the upcoming Power spinoff starring Mary J. Blige.
The cast appeared on a panel where Mary showed up as a special guest. She spoke to the authenticity of the show’s characters, saying, “I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts. I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”
Power creator Courtney Kemp has promised that the spinoff will “continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters.” But even though the show is currently called Power Book 2: Ghost, it sounds like the finished product will feel more like an ensemble piece.
