Actress Rita Wilson, the wife of Tom Hanks, decided to remix Naughty by Nature’s 1992 hit. Wilson says she’s been performing the song regularly to avoid going “quarantine stir-crazy.” Now that she’s recorded her vocals, the track has a chance to help even more people. All profits from the remix will go to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Rita first learned the song for a role in the movie Boy Genius. She says it took her a month to learn “because it’s so complex and nuanced; it was like training for a marathon.” And when she was quarantined and recovering from COVID-19, she challenged herself to see if she could remember the song, “kind of like a brain exercise... When Naughty by Nature commented about it, I couldn't believe it. What a joy to be doing this remix with legends of the hip-hop world.”
