Sacred Heart Health System is providing free health screenings at five churches and community centers in August.
The free services are intended for people who are poor, elderly, or uninsured.
August 6, Pensacola
Heart-health screenings - 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 140 W. Government St.
August 10, Pensacola
Heart-health screenings - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3802 N. Ninth Ave.
August 13, Milton
Heart-health screenings - 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 6451 Park Ave.
August 27, Pensacola
Heart-health screenings - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Ebonwood Community Center, 3511 W. Scott St.
August 28, Cantonment
Osteoporosis screenings - 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Monica's Episcopal Church, 699 S. Hwy. 95A
The heart-health screenings will check blood pressure, blood sugar, and total cholesterol. They can also detect anemia.
The screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other health problems.
Osteoporosis screenings will detect bone density.
